Tattered Books

I have a small square purple bin where I put our DD's everyday books. I placed it underneath the easel so when she likes to play and read she can just pull it out. Since it's easy for her to grab it we have a cluttered floor most of the day. Some of the books are tattered and the pages are separated. She went through that stage too where she tear whatever she can get hold on to. The books that I let her play by herself are cardboard books and cloth but still she was able to tear the pages. If you can see in the picture the big book is now in three pieces :-) All her Disney books that we use to read to her before she goes to sleep are all in high shelf. She can only hold it when me or her Daddy is with her.

Textbooks Buy Back

Since I started going back to school here in the US, I accumulated a lot of textbooks already. For my science classes, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Medical Laws, Ethics and Bioethics, and others, it comes with handbook aside from the textbook. I was thinking of selling it back since the school bookstore will buy back books. The only thing that I am concerned of is if I need it for future reference then I have to go to a library to research. Hubby did it before and he got a good amount when her textbooks were bought back by the school bookstore. For now I have all my textbooks pack in a big box. I may not sell it anymore and maybe I can send it to the Philippines and donate to school libraries for reference. It is all in good condition. Some are hardbound and some are soft bound but its CD is still available.

Fun at the Bookstore

Before Christmas, even if it was snowing real hard, we still went out and braved the nasty weather. We did our errands as well as stop by at the bookstore, Barnes & Noble. Our DD love to run around and touch the display especially if it catches her attention. She was also looking at the kids playing Thomas the train. I just let her run around because there were only two other kids and two adults in the children's section and good thing she did not take out books from the shelf.

Being a newbie wife and then a first time Mom doesn't come to me that easy. I really do have some up times and down times especially so that I have to deal a family life that is different from what I am accustomed to back in my home country. I also check out RD.com - Parenting guide all the time because there are many interesting parenting topics that I can relate to with as well as tips that I can get and apply. They have various articles too that comes in handy for first time Mommy like me. Since I wanted to create a fun and loving family atmosphere all the time, their Family Fun on a Budget article is very helpful especially summer season is approaching. I learned that you can still have a wonderful summer escapade even on a tight budget. Their tip, for me, is the most doable tips that all the family can do to give their kids a nice time without breaking the bank. Laughing Out Loud

I am an avid Reader of Reader's Digest. When I was in the Philippines I always read it because my aunt has been subscribing on it. When I came here in the US I also subscribe. Until now I am still getting my subscription. I love reading it because it has a lot of interesting stories but most of all I like reading the jokes. Their Laughter is the Best Medicine segment is really very funny and reading every joke will really make your day. I forgot what issue was that when they have jokes about men in uniform and I can't help but laugh at it. Now I learned that now only you can read it on their magazine but also you can access it through the internet with the RD Laughs Main at rd.com.

Just by looking and browsing through the different funny pictures you can't help but smile. They also have Stand-up Videos of different comedians. I am following the live webcast of A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by the author himself Eckhart Tolle and Oprah every Monday evening. It is very life touching and a very good self-help tool in improving your understanding with life. I would say that this book is very life changing. I am glad I was able to read it and help me became more aware about how you choose your life to live free of pain and full of genuine love and happiness.

Here is mine's. I am currently reading two books. One is Suze Orman's Women and Money and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I joined Oprah's and Eckhart's class every Monday started last March 3 about the discussion of this book. It is really very awakening.

Reading Made Easy

I can clearly remember when I was in Grade I our teacher let us read a book and the book that we have is Reading Made Easy. If its not for that book I will not be able to read English well and get the star all the time. Then my sister who works for a local company in our area got boxes of books from their foreigner bosses. The books varies from cartoons, texts about world geography, history, social sciences, maths, medical sciences, and a lot more. Even though I don't understand what I was reading back then I just keep on reading the books. And since it has vivid pictures I was just animated by it and everyday I browsed all those books. I believe it is where my love for reading started up. Now I like reading bestsellers, magazines and books about parenting, child development and of course childrens book that I read to my baby.
