I love watching HGTV specially the house hunting and also decorating ideas. I've seen an episode wherein the house hunters wanted a green house or at least it has features where you can save energy. One house has rain barrels that the previous owners used for rain harvesting. I think it is a cool idea.
I know back in the Philippines we have rain water barrels at the back of our house. It is right down below the gutter where the rain will be caught. My parents have been using it ever since. We don't have a regular supply of water then. We used to go to rivers and streams and get water for drinking and other needs in the house. With the rain barrels we can store water and used for taking a bath, wash clothes and water our plants.

Grocery Shopping
I went out for grocery shopping today. I was planning to go out in the morning but I was caught up with a lot of things. Hubby called around 10am and he said he will be online. After we talked online he called me again twice. We finished talking after 2pm. Then I called my cousin in UK. While talking to her I changed our DD and I prepared myself too. Then when I open SS, it was raining with opp. So I tried to do some and then I decided to go because I have to get some food for our DD. If I stay too long in the computer I may forget the time. It was a good thing that the rain showers stopped and the sun came out so even if it was already passed 4pm when we went to Walmart it was still very light.
At Walmart I went to pick up fruits and veggies. I was trying to as much as possible pick up organic produce but Walmart don't have much of the stuff that I need. So I ended up buying mixed organic and non-organic fruits and veggies. For our DD's food, she is drinking organic milk already and I still bought some of the organic baby food from Mother's Best. When Julia Roberts was interviewed yesterday at Oprah she said that she is giving her 9 month old baby Mother's Best baby food in a jar as well as food that she cooked.
Next time when I go out shopping I need to list down those that I need so I can plan which store I will go that has more selection of organic food.
Celebrity on Go Green
I was watching Oprah yesterday and her guests are Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock. Both are A-list Hollywood actress and I love them. I like their movies and they are very beautiful as well. Both of them are an advocate of green earth. Julia R. is sharing her composting and recycling technique. She is also sharing one personal thing, that she don't use deodorant, not ever :-) And Sandra B. is also sharing her soy candle, an organic candle that she uses in her household. All of us is encourage to help save our environment. We can start in our own household one step at a time.
CO2 Recycling
We know that CO2 - or carbon dioxide is also a greenhouse gas. According to the research, CO2 can be recycled also and be made into DVDs, CDs, lenses and plastics. This works by trapping the carbon dioxide that is emitted back into the atmosphere. Considering the situation of our environment action such as this is very helpful. We are now in the age where most of the natural resources are slowly being depleted. We can just hope that there is still left for the future generation. Mother Earth needs the conservation we can give to her.
Help the Environment, Please Recycle
Eversince I can remember I was taught about helping our environment through recycling. When I was in high school we have a fund raising project. We have to collect boxes, cardboards, plastics especially the candy wrappers, chocolate wrappers and other snack food wrappers. I asked our teacher what are we going to do to all the wrappers we collected and she said that it can be sold and recycled. Then I learned that those packaging that we collected is also known as Scrap HDPE or High Density Polyethylene which can be regrind and become material to make other products. So instead of just throwing it in landfills and takes a very long time to decompose, it is better to put it in good use by recycling it. We earn money and we also help our environment in our own little way.
